Your Passwords Need a Manager!

If you’re still using the same password for multiple accounts, writing them down, or relying on easy-to-guess passwords (like “123456” or “Password123”), it’s time to reconsider. Your passwords need a manager!

In today’s world, we have passwords for everything! In our effort to keep things simple, it’s easy to fall into the common trap of using the same password across multiple accounts. While this may seem convenient, it can also lead to security risks.

It’s time to tighten up your security with a password manager.

Using a password manager is like having a vault for all your logins, passwords, and sensitive information like credit cards and passport details. Your sensitive information is securely encrypted, and only you can access it with your master password.

Benefits of Using a Password Manager

Secure Password Storage. Rather than trying to remember your passwords, a password manager keeps them all encrypted in one place. You only need to remember one master password (the password to your password manager).

Creates Strong Passwords. While you can create your passwords, a password manager can generate strong passwords for every account, so you don’t have to worry about using the same one over and over.

Time-Saving. When using a password manager with the browser extension, it automatically fills in your passwords when you log in, so you don’t have to waste time looking them up or resetting them.

How to Get Started

There are many user-friendly password managers out there, like LastPass1Password, and Dashlane, to name a few.

Here’s a quick overview of how to get started:

1. Install the Password Manager. Download the password manager of your choice on your computer, tablet, and phone. When you set your password manager up on your devices, it will sync data between them all. (Tip: If you add your Password Manager to your iPhone, you will want to disable the iCloud Keychain password manager.)

2. Create a Master Password. Create a master password that you can remember and keep it in a secure location. This is the only password you’ll need to remember. You want your master password to be long and complex. I recommend using a statement that means something only to you, for example: “I like to read books in my cozy chair with my blue blanket!”

2. Add the Browser Extension. Install the extension for your password manager.

3. Add Your Passwords. You can import them from your browser or create new ones.

4. Let it Do the Work. Once set up, the password manager will remember your login and autofill them when needed.

At the end of the day, a password manager isn’t just about security—it’s about peace of mind. You can focus on running your business knowing your accounts are safe without the hassle of remembering an overwhelming number of logins and passwords.

I encourage everyone I know to use a password manager. It’s one of those small, simple changes that can make a big difference in keeping your sensitive information safe.

Things That Bring Me Joy: The Blend of Art and Nature

I have a great appreciation for both art and elephants.

When I learned about The Great Elephant Migration: A Coexistence Story, a perfect marriage between art and majestic elephants, I couldn’t wait to go.

On September 2nd, the last day of the exhibit in Newport, RI, I spent the day in awe. The life-sized sculptures, bathed in light, felt like a living tribute to the beauty and grace of these incredible creatures. There is something so joyful about spending time doing what you love.

The herd has since moved to The Meatpacking District in New York, and I hope to visit them there before they depart on October 20th.

Have you had an experience where art has brought something magical to life for you? Let me know here.
